How Xerox® and a School District Teamed Up to Promote Remote Learning

Lincoln Public Schools, a Nebraska district serving more than 42,000 K–12 students across 60 schools, faced the twin challenges of supporting remote learning during the COVID‑19 pandemic and replacing a fragmented, hard‑to‑use mix of legacy print and document systems. To modernize access and collaboration, the district partnered with Xerox DocuShare alongside Xerox multifunction devices and Xerox Intelligent Workplace Solutions to give teachers and staff digital access and reliable print options.

Xerox DocuShare and Xerox redesigned the district’s document workflow—after a 2005 audit they cut the number of devices by two‑thirds and optimized an in‑house print center—so teachers can scan at any MFD, upload and edit materials in real time, or print from home to have materials delivered to classrooms the next morning. The print center, built with Xerox equipment (Nuvera and Versant systems) and climate controls, produces more than 200,000 impressions on a typical day and nearly half a million on peak days; DocuShare also supports HR, Purchasing, and Accounting records, delivering measurable workflow simplification and scalable remote‑learning support.
