Fast Document Digitization Keeps Leonardo Flying

Leonardo, a global aerospace, defense and security company, faced slow, document-heavy processes that delayed spare-part identification and risked grounding helicopters during time‑critical aircraft‑on‑the‑ground (AOG) situations. To address this, Leonardo worked with Xerox DocuShare and deployed Xerox multifunction printers integrated with their ERP to digitize and manage part documentation.

Xerox DocuShare’s solution used MFP scanning, ERP barcode lookups and OCR to capture metadata and store documents in a central repository, enabling users to find and ship parts much faster. As a result, document processing from scan to upload can take under a minute for an average six‑page set, metadata quality improved, and Leonardo reduced time spent searching for documents by 80%, eliminating delays to AOG responses.
