Case Study: H&H Color Lab drives growth in photo applications with Xerox digital printing technology

A Xerox Corporation Case Study

Preview of the H&H Color Lab Case Study

Using photo applications to drive revenues and create a “buzz” with new products

H&H Color Lab, a family-owned photographic lab serving professional photographers across all 50 states, faced declining print volumes and lower transaction values as its customer base shifted from large studios to smaller businesses. To stay competitive while preserving its reputation for customer service and uncompromising quality, H&H needed to expand into new short-run, variable-data photo products. Xerox Corporation provided the digital printing technology that made this possible, including Xerox® DocuColor® 242/252 Digital Color Printer, Xerox® 700 Printer, and Xerox® Color 1000 Press.

Xerox Corporation helped H&H Color Lab launch and grow a broad range of photo applications such as photo books, greeting cards, brochures, booklets, invitations, and calendars on a variety of stocks and finishes. The results were strong: H&H doubled sales of its “press” products from 2007 to 2008, then grew another 30% the following year, while adding about 1,000 new active customers annually to a base of 5,000. Xerox’s image quality, consistency, and production flexibility also enabled H&H to expand into non-photo short-run work for new business customers.
