Case Study: Northshore School District boosts print efficiency and growth with Xerox iGen3

A Xerox Corporation Case Study

Preview of the Northshore School District Case Study

Turning economic challenges into opportunities

Northshore School District’s Printing and Distribution Services team in Bothell, Washington, supported 32 schools and more than 19,000 students, but rising demand for faster four-color printing was straining its offset presses. At the same time, budget cuts meant manager Paul Katz needed Xerox Corporation to help the district do more work with less labor, fewer touchpoints, and no increase in staff.

Xerox Corporation implemented the Xerox iGen3 Digital Production Press with a Xerox FreeFlow Print Server, helping Northshore School District replace older offset equipment, improve efficiency, and bring more jobs in-house. The new system enabled inline finishing on long runs, helped the shop become a four-color hub for other school districts, and led to 70% of iGen3 work coming from outside the district. The print shop also regained calendar and transportation guide production internally, while maintaining high quality and generating a return on investment despite historic budget cuts.
