A Xerox Corporation Case Study
Barksdale School Portraits, a longtime school photography company serving about 600 schools in the Northeastern U.S., needed more control over its growing photo-based services business. As school requirements changed and mistakes in outsourced printing put orders at risk, the company looked for a way to bring yearbooks, memory books, and other digital photo products in-house. Xerox Corporation’s digital production technology, including the Xerox iGen3 press, became the focus of their search.
Xerox Corporation provided Barksdale School Portraits with a Xerox iGen3 110 Digital Production Press, FreeFlow Print Server, FreeFlow Makeready, and a FreeFlow Scanner 665, enabling in-house production of yearbooks and a wide range of related photo products. The result was stronger control, lower costs than outsourcing, and major growth: Barksdale reported 30% annual revenue growth for four straight years, nearly doubled yearbook production in its first year, and projected expansion to 500 yearbooks by 2008–2009.
