OTC Group, a pharmaceutical packaging company, faced the challenge of medication theft and counterfeiting, which costs the global industry an estimated $75 to $200 billion annually. They needed a secure solution to protect their packaging. They partnered with Xerox Corporation to implement the Xerox Automated Packaging Solutions (XAPS).

The solution from Xerox integrated printing, coating, stacking, and die-cutting all in-line, allowing for the production of folding cartons with secure Xerox MicroText. This workflow enabled the application of UPI and AIDC tracking information directly at the time of printing, which eliminated the possibility of packaging theft between the printing and packaging processes. Xerox provided a secure and efficient system that directly combats counterfeiting.
