A Xerox Corporation Case Study
Los Angeles Trade-Technical College, a large public two-year college in the Los Angeles Community College district, was struggling with a sprawling and inefficient printing environment. With many non-networked desktop printers, multiple service contracts, and outdated production devices, the college faced high costs, unreliable support, and heavy demands on IT staff, all while trying to advance its sustainability goals. Xerox Corporation was brought in to help modernize and optimize its managed print services.
Xerox Corporation assessed LATTC’s print environment and replaced most personal printers with networked multifunction devices, added a full-time DocuCare associate on campus, implemented a web portal for print-center job submission, and upgraded high-volume production printing with Xerox ColorQube devices. The results included improved reliability and uptime, a better user-to-device ratio from 3:1 to 8:1, and reduced paper and consumables use. LATTC saved $250,000 annually in printer cartridges, with $1.5 million in expected savings over five years, while also cutting waste and supporting its green initiatives.
