A Xerox Corporation Case Study
In-Print Graphics, Inc., an Oak Forest, Illinois commercial printer, was tasked with producing Homewood-Flossmoor High School’s 2009 literary magazine and faced a demanding challenge: achieve outstanding color consistency and reproduction across multiple substrates, with a tight schedule and limited budget. The goal was to create the school’s best book yet, featuring full-color artwork throughout. Xerox Corporation provided the technology used for the project, including the Xerox iGen3 110 Digital Production Press with an EX Print Server powered by Fiery and a FreeFlow Print Server.
Xerox Corporation’s solution delivered highly consistent color across the magazine’s varied paper stocks, while Xerox FreeFlow Process Manager automated workflow steps to reduce manual intervention and keep production on schedule. The finished publication exceeded expectations and earned the National Scholastic Press Association’s highest ranking, All American, plus five marks of distinction, placing it in the top five percent of high school literary magazines nationwide. The project also generated new business for In-Print Graphics, Inc., which reported being approached by more than a dozen schools and colleges interested in similar work.
