Case Study: Variable Image Printing boosts turnaround time and cuts costs with Xerox FreeFlow Solutions

A Xerox Corporation Case Study

Preview of the Variable Image Printing Case Study

How one company utilized automation to achieve success

Variable Image Printing (VIP), a Southern California print and fulfillment company, needed to keep up with changing customer demands for shorter runs, faster turnaround, and more versioned content. Before working with Xerox, VIP’s quote-to-print workflow could take days and required a lot of manual pre-press work. To address this, VIP turned to Xerox software solutions including FreeFlow Web Services, FreeFlow Process Manager, and Avanti Graphic Arts Management Systems.

Xerox implemented an automated workflow that let VIP customers submit, proof, and manage jobs online, while pre-press, printing, finishing, billing, and invoicing were streamlined with minimal operator intervention. The results were significant: turnaround time was cut from six days to three, invoices went out within a day instead of two weeks, and billing labor dropped by nearly 40%. In the first year alone, VIP credited Xerox’s solution with more than $200K in new revenue, while more than half of its jobs began coming in through the web.
