Helping an academic health center discover better ways of doing business

The University of Texas Health Science Center of San Antonio needed a better way to manage the heavy, last-minute printing and copying demands of its academic health center. Its in-plant print operation was scattered, inefficient, and hard to track, and it was looking to improve workflow, expand color capabilities, and replace aging equipment. Xerox Corporation provided the production printing platform and expertise the team was seeking, including Xerox Nuvera and DocuColor systems.

Xerox Corporation helped UT Print centralize operations, implement job tracking, streamline workflow, and move more work from offset to digital printing. The solution included the Xerox DocuColor 7002 Digital Press for short-run color work, the Xerox Nuvera 144 EA Production System for high-volume black-and-white output, and the Xerox Nuvera 4112 Enterprise Printing System for fast, reliable finishing. As a result, UT Print cut turnaround times from 4–8 weeks to 3–5 working days, achieved a 35% profit margin, reduced customer prices by about 25% versus outside suppliers, and grew demand by attracting outside work.
