EMC - Customer Case Study

EMC, the world’s largest provider of data storage systems, struggled to manage a rapidly growing global fleet of printers across about 400 locations. As the company expanded through organic growth and acquisitions, its IT team lacked visibility into devices, usage, support, and print-related costs, creating rising complexity and expense. EMC turned to Xerox Corporation for help with a global Managed Print Services (MPS) approach.

Xerox Corporation implemented a centralized MPS solution that standardized print devices, support, billing, and monitoring across more than 30 countries. The program cut print costs by 30% in the U.S., generating more than $7 million in annual savings, improved the employee-to-printer ratio from about 7:1 to 22:1, and enabled proactive handling of more than 65% of service calls. It also reduced energy use, waste, and paper consumption significantly, including conserving more than 20 billion BTUs and 15,000 trees in the U.S. alone.
