dsicmm Group Limited, one of the U.K.’s largest communication, print and direct mail organizations, was asked to help Virgin Atlantic revamp its Flying Club welcome packs. The challenge was to replace bulky, generic preprinted mailings with more flexible, personal and sustainable packs for Red, Silver and Gold members, while managing high-volume production of more than 600,000 packs a year at low cost.

To solve this, dsicmm Group Limited used a hybrid digital and offset approach with Xerox iGen3 100 Digital Production Press technology, a CX Print Server powered by Creo, Nexdox variable-data software and a Duplo intelligent stitcher. Xerox helped dsicmm Group produce personalized, tier-specific packs with offset printed covers and digitally printed variable interiors, reducing pack weight and environmental impact with 100 percent recyclable materials. The program achieved less than .002 percent errors and earned dsicmm a three-year contract with Virgin Atlantic.
