Colgate University Increases Digital Color Capabilities

Colgate University’s Document and Mail Services needed a faster, more cost-effective way to handle the campus’s growing demand for high-quality color printing. High-end jobs were being sent to outside offset vendors, while smaller runs were too expensive and slow to produce in-house. Xerox helped Colgate explore a better digital color workflow, using Xerox DocuColor 250 Digital Color Printer/Copiers to improve turnaround and raise the value of color printing on campus.

Xerox’s DocuColor 250s gave Colgate the quality and affordability needed to build demand for color applications, and the print shop tripled its color output to nearly one million pages in 2007. That success led Colgate to install a Xerox iGen3 90 Digital Production Press in 2008, bringing more work in-house from offset printers and improving convenience with on-site press proofs. Xerox ultimately helped Colgate increase output, strengthen customer response to color, and expand the strategic role of its print shop across the university.
