The City of New York worked with Xerox Corporation to move from a decentralized, unmanaged printing environment across dozens of agencies to a centralized model that could improve control, reduce costs, and increase transparency. The city needed better oversight of printer purchases, usage, billing, security, and operations across its many departments and boroughs.

Xerox Corporation implemented Xerox Managed Print Services agency by agency, starting with assessments, change management, secure printing, and consolidated billing and reporting. The results included $2 million in annual savings to date, 49% average savings per participating agency, more than 51% reduction in print equipment, and strong sustainability gains such as lower energy use, less waste, and reduced greenhouse gases.
