Xeneta brings transparency into Akzonobel’s ocean freight tendering process

AkzoNobel, the global chemical company, ships more than 55,000 TEU across 6,000 ocean freight lanes, which made it difficult to leverage volume for competitive pricing or know whether its rates matched the market. To improve procurement, AkzoNobel turned to Xeneta, using its ocean freight market intelligence platform alongside TICONTRACT for digital freight tendering.

Xeneta helped AkzoNobel clean and benchmark its freight data, identifying about 3,000 lanes with usable standard container cargo and providing benchmarks for 48% of its lanes. These insights were introduced into AkzoNobel’s global tender process, enabling more informed, transparent negotiations with carriers and better fact-based decisions on ocean freight rates.
