Surplus is a Jakarta-based food rescue startup tackling food waste by connecting consumers with excess, perfectly edible food from F&B businesses. As it scaled across multiple Indonesian cities, the company needed a reliable way to support transactions in its app and help users purchase discounted surplus meals seamlessly, and it worked with Xendit for payment infrastructure.

With Xendit, Surplus was able to support its marketplace experience and grow its reach to more than 10,000 app downloads and over 600 merchant partners across 7 cities. The platform has helped rescue more than 4,000 meals or 550 kg of food, save over Rp50 million in losses for F&B businesses, and avoid 17 tons of CO2 emissions—advancing Surplus’s mission to reduce food waste and its environmental impact.
