Rocky Mountain Institute - Customer Case Study

a non-profit consulting for a municipality used Xendee to model a proposed mixed-use development. Their challenge was to design a building with a large electrical load that could be energy independent from the utility grid during peak hours (4-9pm) using only carbon-free energy sources.

Xendee's Load Builder tool was used to model the building's load and run a minimum cost optimization. The solution specified the optimal system, which included rooftop solar and a necessary battery size, to achieve zero electricity imports during peak hours. This provided the municipality with a clear understanding of the costs and requirements for decarbonizing new builds.
