Mid-Sized Global Consulting Company - Customer Case Study

Xendee worked with a mid-sized global consulting company that was engaged by a steel mill to evaluate several unsolicited solar PPA proposals. The client's challenge was to determine if the proposed deals were economically attractive, or if the mill should build its own solar or wind farm instead, all while considering future operational expansions and the impact on its carbon footprint.

Using the Xendee platform, the consulting company modeled and simulated each proposal to compare the economics of the PPAs against utility purchases and self-built alternatives. Xendee's Multi Year functionality allowed them to project how operational changes and rising utility rates would affect the outcomes. The analysis revealed the PPA proposals were far less attractive than they initially seemed; the mill's favorable utility rate and load profile meant a solar PPA would result in significant double-paying. Xendee enabled the consulting team to clearly demonstrate that building their own development or seeking a more competitive offer was the superior financial decision.
