Large Semiconductor Manufacturing Company - Customer Case Study

A large semiconductor manufacturing company was relocating its operations to a rural area of the United States and required a highly reliable, carbon-free power solution for its clean room. Their challenge was to ensure continuous operation that would be resilient against extreme weather and ice storms while working with the local utility to incorporate an existing solar array. Xendee was engaged to analyze the feasibility of various distributed energy resources.

Xendee used its multi-node design capabilities to quickly model solutions, including on-site solar, energy storage, heat pumps, and a hydrogen system. The analysis, completed with rounds of revisions in under 24 hours, found an optimal solar and storage solution that provided three days of resilience at a cost equivalent to buying power directly from the utility. Xendee determined that a hydrogen system was more expensive and that on-site solar, while costlier than the utility's solar field, offered greater resilience.
