Hanscom Air Force Base - Customer Case Study

Hanscom Air Force Base needed to assess the economic feasibility of installing a microgrid with solar PV and energy storage. The goal was to maintain power resilience during multi-day grid outages caused by extreme weather, minimizing energy costs and emissions while reducing dependence on vulnerable fuel supply chains for their generators.

Xendee was used to optimize the sizing of the photovoltaic and energy storage systems for the microgrid. The solution quantified savings from peak reduction and energy arbitrage, benefits from enhanced reliability, carbon emissions reduction, and potential revenue from selling excess electricity. Xendee's analysis, which included current tariffs and incentives, demonstrated the project's economic viability for both supplementing and entirely replacing the existing fuel-fired generators.
