Cascadia Renewables - Customer Case Study

cascadia renewables was selected by the washington department of commerce to conduct a feasibility study for thurston county public health. the challenge was to design a resilient microgrid with solar, battery storage, and a generator to ensure continuous operation for the facility's critical services during emergencies like earthquakes and wildfires, moving beyond their limited backup generator.

Using the xendee platform, cascadia renewables sized the optimal combination of solar PV, battery storage, and a generator. xendee enabled them to model multi-week outages, quantify fuel savings, and add system redundancy. The results were a conceptual design that extended the facility's period of autonomy, provided 24 hours of backup power if the generator failed, and added enough capacity to potentially expand the critical loads served.
