Cascadia Renewables completes 100+ feasibility studies with Xendee

Cascadia Renewables, an energy developer with roots in off-grid solar, faced the challenge of moving beyond simple solar-plus-storage designs to deliver more complex microgrid projects that meet the multi-stakeholder goals of communities and businesses. Their traditional manual methods were insufficient for modeling the nonlinear relationships between technologies and operational scenarios, which was limiting their business growth. They turned to Xendee, a microgrid optimization and techno-economic modeling platform, to address this need.

By implementing Xendee, Cascadia Renewables was able to rapidly translate initial concepts into full simulation environments and run dozens of operational scenarios. This solution enabled them to deliver technically rigorous and investment-ready feasibility studies. As a result, Cascadia has completed over 100 studies with Xendee and has 20 microgrid implementation projects in development, representing over 10 MWh of storage and 2 MW of solar. The platform was crucial for right-sizing systems, such as the Orcas Center microgrid, ensuring they are cost-effective and meet specific resilience targets.
