Case Study: Thales reduces costs and shortens development cycles with Xena Networks' Chimera impairment emulator

A Xena Networks (Chimera impairment emulator) Case Study

Thales shortens RTG test development by 3 man-months with Xena Networks

Thales, a leading defense and cybersecurity supplier, faced the challenge of testing the performance of its CYBELS Real-Time Gateway (RTG). Conventional network analysis tools lacked the precision and bandwidth to verify the RTG's deterministic behavior under heavy 40Gbps workloads, and upgrading their existing test equipment was prohibitively expensive.

Xena Networks provided a solution with its Z10 Odin and Z100 Loki traffic generators and the Xena OpenAutomation (XOA) Python API. This combination was more economical and allowed Thales to easily port its existing test scripts. The implementation saved significant development time, requiring only three man-months of work, and enabled almost all code issues to be found and fixed before final validation.
