A Xena Networks (Chimera impairment emulator) Case Study
Parallel Wireless, a supplier of unified OpenRAN solutions, needed to test the latency performance of their 5G O-RAN configurations where network units could be located kilometers apart. Using a physical fiber cable was expensive, time-consuming, and did not provide the granular data required. They engaged with Xena Networks to find a solution.
Xena Networks implemented its Chimera Network Emulator to emulate fiber links of varying lengths between network units. This allowed Parallel Wireless to quickly collect extensive latency data and create a performance matrix within a few days, a task not feasible by other means. The data enabled them to refine product specifications and offer customers superior, data-driven guidance for network planning.
