How Xello Helps Rhode Island’s Second Largest School District Meet and Report on State Mandates

Cranston Public School District, Rhode Island's second largest school district, faced a challenge meeting state individual learning plan (ILP) mandates with its previous platform, Naviance. The software was difficult for both staff and students to use, unintuitive, and costly to expand. This forced the district to use additional external websites to manage college and career readiness activities, creating extra work for counselors and educators.

The district implemented Xello to create a user-friendly, all-in-one solution. With Xello's help, they successfully established a new ILP process that streamlined state reporting and eliminated extra fees. The results were significant, with student engagement doubling as platform access per student increased by 102% and 96.4% of students with ILP data accessing the platform. Both staff and students found the platform more engaging and beneficial, leading to plans for further expansion of Xello's features.
