Cable & Wireless Communications (CWC), a major telecom operator serving 16 markets in the Caribbean and Latin America, supports its business on the Liberate platform — a complex suite providing billing, customer care and order management. Liberate was deployed across 21 production environments (and many more UAT/test systems), on a heterogeneous stack (OpenVMS, Linux, Windows, COBOL) with multiple build tools and two version-control systems, resulting in highly manual, risky releases and heavy dependence on niche skills — a problem made more urgent by an impending team relocation.

CWC ran a successful proof-of-concept and selected XL Deploy (via Cachet/XebiaLabs) for its agentless multi‑platform support, audit/tracking, Jenkins integration, APIs and extensibility. A phased rollout quickly converted half the applications and eliminated many manual steps; backlogs disappeared, deployment risk and reliance on specialist knowledge were removed, and the team expects to double productivity by reallocating effort to higher-value work while gaining accurate, up-to-date deployment inventory and easier knowledge transfer.
