How Ryobi leveraged digital transformation to disrupt home improvement market

Ryobi, a TTI brand known for consumer and professional power tools, faced the challenge of bringing multiple analog devices (stud finders, laser levels, moisture meters, etc.) into a single mobile app. The team had to reconcile hardware ergonomics and sensor data with limited screen sizes, preserve Ryobi’s distinctive industrial branding across iOS and Android, and unify diverse device protocols and interactions into one intuitive UI.

[x]cube collaborated with TTI through onsite strategy sessions and feature-by-feature design, creating a universal interaction language (e.g., a shared capture/trigger), integrating camera, geotagging, project overlays and cloud sync, and adapting brand colors and ergonomics for mobile. The result was cohesive UX/UI specifications, a cost-efficient digital product supporting eight devices, and stronger customer acquisition and retention that helped Ryobi disrupt the home‑improvement market.
