How our leadership in game development helped D3 promote its iconic movie

[x]cube partnered with D3 Publisher to build Madagascar: Join the Circus as a promotional mobile game for Madagascar 3. The brief was to create a social-simulation/mini-game hybrid tied to the movie, while tackling platform fragmentation (Cocos2D-X differences between iOS and Android), sprite-sheet complexities, and early challenges with user retention and monetization.

We delivered full in-house design, engineering, QA and art, rewrote the codebase to sync iOS and Android, and added a ship-building progression to drive daily returns while tightening in-game currency economics. The launch exceeded expectations—over 2 million downloads in the first month, #1 app rankings in multiple countries, a first-day server crash from demand, and a long-term, paying player base.
