How our digital strategy brought digital conceirge into a golf course

Digital Caddies, founded in 2008, pioneered a low-cost Android tablet GPS system that acts like a digital concierge on golf carts, providing distances, hazards, aerial hole views, digital scorecards and advertising opportunities. When they partnered with [x]cube LABS the challenge was to digitize the familiar caddie experience while ensuring real-time location boundaries and highly accurate GPS data across many different courses so golfers would adopt the new interface without losing the traditional scorekeeping feel.

[x]cube LABS ran workshops, designed a mobile UI that emulated TV scorecards, built a CMS for course-branded content, and field-tested the app across multiple courses to nail accuracy for distances, elevation and routing. The solution delivered a familiar, interactive experience with ad and ordering capabilities, and has been deployed on about 11,500 tablet screens across 150 courses in the top 20 US DMAs, creating a scalable advertising channel to reach influential golfers.
