Nuvem Tecnologia makes big data possible for rural farmers everywhere

The customer, Nuvem Tecnologia, needed to modernize complex agricultural processes for farmers in Brazil by replacing inaccurate paper reporting with a centralized digital solution. To achieve this, they partnered with the vendor Xamarin and leveraged Visual Studio Tools for Xamarin and Microsoft Azure to build their AgroSIG application.

Using Xamarin allowed the team to reuse C# code and focus on designing an intuitive tablet-based interface optimized for farm use. The solution taps into native device capabilities like GPS, photo capture, and offline data sync to monitor over 1700 sq km of farmland. This provides farmers with real-time information for decision making, from identifying pest problems to analyzing historical climatic data.
