Hitcents, a cross-platform mobile development studio, worked with Xamarin to build Hanx Writer for Tom Hanks, aiming to recreate the feel of typing on a vintage typewriter across fans’ devices. The challenge was to deliver an app with native-like quality and design while keeping it usable on multiple platforms, including iOS and Android.

Xamarin enabled Hitcents to use iOS native capabilities such as TextKit and Core Animation while developing in C# and keeping the option to create an Android version. The app was a strong success, with Hanx Writer becoming the #1 iPad app of summer 2014, helping Hitcents strengthen its cross-platform sales pitch.
