A Wunderman Thompson Case Study
Sherwin-Williams needed a bold way to show commercial architects that its exterior coatings go far beyond the usual white, gray, and charcoal—offering 50,000 colors for large metal buildings. Working with Wunderman Thompson, the brand set out to make the breadth of its color capabilities tangible at the world’s largest gathering of architects.
Wunderman Thompson created “Thinking in Color,” using wearable brain-wave technology and a custom algorithm to translate participants’ moods and brain activity into personalized color palettes. The experience toured across the United States, generated over 16 million color possibilities, and helped inspire Sherwin-Williams to launch a new Architect Series with 12 previously uncatalogued colors.
