Huawei wanted to show that the Mate 20 was more than just an AI-powered smartphone with impressive specs. Working with Wunderman Thompson, the brand needed a campaign that added human warmth and emotional meaning to a highly technical product.

Wunderman Thompson created “From Mate To Mate,” sending director Nawapol T. to Japan to capture moments on the Huawei Mate 20 and then mail them back as physical USB “souvenirs” to his friends. The campaign also launched an online platform for users to create and send their own video souvenirs. The director’s cut generated over 8 million combined views, more than 10,000 clips were shared through the platform, and Huawei gained a stronger emotional connection with Thai consumers.
