A WSO2 Case Study
O2 Slovakia, a major mobile service provider, needed to reduce help-desk costs and increase customer loyalty by developing a self-care mobile application. Their challenge was to securely and efficiently expose backend customer data and services through APIs without compromising performance. They chose the 100% open source WSO2 API Manager from vendor WSO2 to address these technological demands.
WSO2 implemented its API Manager to handle security, customer identification, and service verification for the new app. The solution provided essential OAuth 2.0 security integration and enabled the rapid development of a prototype. The results were highly successful: the app achieved over 150,000 downloads, with 70,000 regular users, helping O2 maintain its highest-in-market customer satisfaction rating. Due to this success, WSO2 is now a part of O2 Slovakia's future expansion plans to accommodate growing subscriber numbers.
