NewWave, CMS’s healthcare technology partner, needed a faster way to build federally compliant healthcare microservices while meeting strict U.S. government IT and three-zone architecture requirements. Traditional development took hundreds of hours and could leave applications outdated before deployment, creating a major challenge for CMS’s large Medicare and Medicaid user base.

Using WSO2 API Manager, NewWave built SmartApp and the SPADE platform to automate and accelerate application development and deployment. The solution cut project setup and core development from up to 15 weeks to just 2–3 weeks, and enabled fully functional, secure applications to be generated in minutes with no coding required, helping CMS deliver compliant healthcare apps much faster.
