Case Study: Micron Technology achieves reduced technical debt and API-first agility with WSO2 API Manager

A WSO2 Case Study

Preview of the Micron Technology Case Study

Micron Technology Leveraging an API-first Strategy to “Chip” Away at Technical Debt

Micron Technology, a global semiconductor manufacturer, was weighed down by technical debt from monolithic client/server applications, thick desktop clients, and thousands of DLLs across 40,000 workstations. The company needed a way to simplify management, identify API owners and users, support throttling and always-on uptime, and standardize development across global sites, so it turned to WSO2 API Manager.

WSO2 helped Micron Technology move to an API-first model by deploying WSO2 API Manager on-premises, setting up 10 global gateways, and automating monthly updates with WSO2 Update Manager and Puppet. The shift reduced 15 hours of manual work, eliminated human error, enabled language-agnostic web services, and added resilient global load balancing with failover, while training and an internal API marketplace helped drive adoption across the organization.
