e&, a global technology group and telecommunications leader, faced challenges in scaling its Smiles loyalty program and integrating its vast ecosystem of partners and services. Their existing monolithic architecture could not efficiently handle the growth to over 5 million users and 6,000 partners, leading to complexities in API security, authentication, and authorization. To address this, e& turned to vendor WSO2 for its API management and identity and access management solutions.
WSO2 implemented a robust API-led architecture using its API Manager and Identity Server to transition e& to a scalable microservices framework. This solution integrated over 200 APIs, centralized security, and enabled secure access for users and partners. The results for e& were significant: the platform seamlessly scaled to serve 5.4 million users with zero SLA breaches, provided 360-degree customer insights, and successfully replaced a legacy Oracle system. WSO2's solution also reduced operational complexity and laid the groundwork for future growth.
