A Citizen Centric e-Government Journey From Bhutan

The Department of Information Technology & Telecom in Bhutan was tasked with driving the country’s citizen-centric e-Government strategy while improving coordination across agencies, reducing siloed systems, and making government services available online. To support this challenge, it used the WSO2 Integration Agile Platform, including WSO2 Enterprise Integrator, to help centralize infrastructure and enable data exchange across government services.

WSO2 implemented an architecture built around a single platform with single sign-on, API-based access, and real-time integration and analytics. Using WSO2 Identity Server, WSO2 API Manager, and WSO2 Stream Processor, the Department of Information Technology & Telecom improved service delivery efficiency and enabled shared, standardized data access across agencies. The result was a more unified e-Government model with centralized government infrastructure, though the case study does not provide specific numeric performance gains.
