Network Rail Improves Flexibility and Speed of Publishing Across 8 Microsites with WP Engine

Network Rail, the organisation that runs and maintains Britain’s rail infrastructure, needed a faster, more flexible way to communicate with stakeholders across its main site, project microsites and intranets. The company wanted to move from a broadcaster model to a publishing model where non-technical marketing and content teams could quickly create microsites and publish content without heavy IT involvement.

Network Rail chose WordPress hosted and managed by WP Engine for eight microsites (including Crossrail 2 and the Thameslink Programme), benefiting from an intuitive CMS, WP Engine’s EverCache performance layer, and 24/7 specialist support. The new approach enabled sites to be built in days, improved publishing speed and performance, supports 140,000 combined monthly visitors, reduced overheads and established WP Engine as a strategic partner for future rollouts.
