ETH Zurich University studies urban stress and navigation with WorldViz

ETH Zurich University researchers, led by Professor Christoph Hoelscher, needed to study how urban design influences human stress and navigation without the logistical challenges of complex experiment setup. They turned to WorldViz for a tailored virtual reality solution to seamlessly integrate their research equipment.

WorldViz implemented a collapsible three-wall VizMove Projection VR System powered by their Vizard VR Software Toolkit. This solution integrated eye-tracking and biometric sensors, allowing the team to effortlessly collect and synchronize multi-sensory data. The results provided measurable consistencies between environmental cues and subject disorientation/stress, successfully advancing their research into wayfinding and spatial-learning to better inform urban design.
