Emmaus Homes Uses Recognition to Connect Dispersed Employees

Emmaus Homes, a nonprofit operating more than 80 homes with 700+ employees, struggled with scattered, inconsistent recognition programs that left staff feeling disconnected and contributed to industry-high turnover. To address this, Emmaus Homes partnered with WorkTango and adopted WorkTango’s Recognition & Rewards platform (formerly Kazoo) to centralize and modernize employee recognition.

WorkTango implemented a visible, real-time peer-to-peer recognition solution that connected geographically dispersed teams and streamlined rewards. The nonprofit saved $25,000 in its first-year rewards budget, drove 40,000+ pieces of recognition, awarded 1,800+ bonuses for safety, compliance and communications, and saw its Glassdoor “Recommend to a Friend” score jump from 70% to 91% (a 21% increase), demonstrating clear engagement and retention gains.
