Critical Start, a cyber risk monitoring software company with 280 employees, wanted to improve and expand its informal employee recognition efforts as it grew. To create a more inclusive and impactful program, it evaluated vendors and selected WorkTango’s Recognition & Rewards platform.

WorkTango helped Critical Start formalize recognition by integrating with existing systems, onboarding the program in new hire orientation and LMS training, automatically celebrating milestones, enabling quarterly peer-to-peer points, and rewarding culture initiatives like volunteering and ERG leadership. The company also launched “Level Up Awards” to recognize core values and mission-driven contributions. After implementation, employee feedback was positive, and increasing the monetary value of rewards points further boosted engagement and appreciation; WorkTango also reports that active users stay 2.8 years longer on average than inactive employees.
