2U Uses WorkTango to Maintain Culture Amid Rapid Growth

2U, a rapidly growing education-software company that expanded from ~200 to 1,000+ employees across five U.S. offices and one in Hong Kong, struggled to keep a dispersed workforce connected, maintain culture through acquisitions and growth, standardize rewards, and give executives timely visibility. To address these challenges, 2U partnered with WorkTango and deployed WorkTango’s recognition and rewards platform (peer-to-peer recognition, a custom reward catalog, and Behavior Bonus incentives).

WorkTango implemented a real-time, globally visible recognition system and experiential, low-cost rewards tied to core values and development opportunities. The program drove nearly 50,000 recognitions in 15 months, with about half the executive team reading recognition posts daily; it produced 12,600+ health and wellness Behavior Bonus redemptions and 6,000+ environmental-action redemptions, and even generated 109+ raffle submissions for a volunteer trip—while low- or no-cost rewards helped manage the rewards budget and boost participation.
