The City of Milpitas, a 65,000‑resident Silicon Valley municipality, needed a flexible, customizable mobile solution to replace paper newsletters and improve two‑way digital communications. The Information Systems team wanted an app that could deliver news, event updates, a city directory and a citizen “ticketing” system for reporting issues, while supporting secure internal workflows and the city’s green initiative—without being locked into inflexible turnkey municipal software.

Milpitas chose Workspot’s cloud VDI approach, quickly piloting a secure My Milpitas app that leverages the city’s VPN and routes citizen tickets to the right departments. The rollout enabled real‑time alerts and approvals for Public Works, a secure Fire‑response app, streamlined mobile workflows for staff, and cost savings from switching to iPads (≈$62K), while simplifying total cost of ownership and enabling future services like online timesheets and utility payments.
