Itron was struggling with high maintenance costs and limited capacity for test automation because existing tools required programming skills, restricting automation to one or two specialists. The company needed a solution that would lower upkeep, enable non-programmers to create and maintain tests, and work across multiple projects and technologies.

Itron selected Worksoft Certify — a no-code progression-testing tool with a central repository — and ran a pilot training four team members, eventually expanding to six non-developers automating tests. The deployment cut onboarding time (new-user training to about half a day after initial vendor training), enabled concurrent test design and automation, standardized test assets for reuse, reduced manual testing, and improved application quality; the solution has been rolled out across multiple .NET projects with Java and web testing planned.
