United Way of Norman, part of the broader United Way network of 13,000 staff, 1,800 branches and 30,000 volunteers across 40+ countries, faced a fractured technology landscape: many different email and phone systems, reliance on listservs, and difficulty connecting people across generations, geographies and budgets. To unify the organization and improve engagement, they turned to Workplace from Meta as a modern, accessible communications platform.

Workplace from Meta delivered a simple, familiar collaboration layer that required no formal training, flattened the learning curve, and made it easy to migrate communities off listservs. In one example a leader’s group grew from 250 members to over 800 in the first week and later to more than 1,100, demonstrating rapid adoption and broader engagement; United Way now plans to scale Workplace from Meta to volunteers and boards (targeting 30,000) and expand use of Multi-company Groups to drive cross-organizational collaboration.
