Opening new horizons for Virgin with smarter technology and teamwork

Virgin Atlantic partnered with Workplace from Meta to modernize internal communication and make employee services — notably free staff flight booking — faster and mobile-friendly. The airline’s challenge was a desktop-bound intranet and fragmented team collaboration that slowed booking, shift swaps and real-time problem solving across crews and ground teams.

Using Workplace from Meta, Virgin Atlantic deployed a mobile-first collaboration hub with Workplace Chat, groups and integrations, and built an in-house Instant Load Checker bot that lets staff query flight seat availability on the go. Supported by a #GetOnBoard launch campaign, the platform drove rapid engagement: 70% adoption within eight weeks and overall results including an 81% adoption rate and 75% monthly mobile adoption, improving booking speed, crew coordination and company-wide collaboration.
