Telenor, a global telecom group serving 178 million customers with around 30,000 employees, found its one-way intranet was no longer reaching or engaging staff and created duplication and maintenance costs. To modernize internal communications and avoid keeping an outdated platform, Telenor moved its intranet to Workplace from Meta.

Using Workplace from Meta, Telenor repurposed its All Employee Announcements into “Telenor Global News,” trained communications leads and rolled the approach out across 12 business units, appointed a small set of “news anchors,” pinned key resources, set employees’ browsers to BU news homepages, and developed a bot to surface static content. The change eliminated the need for a separate intranet (reducing platform maintenance costs), centralized communication for consistent tone and sources, and made information easier to find for Telenor’s 30,000 employees.
