Pernambucanas, a 12,000-employee Brazilian retailer founded in 1908, needed to modernize highly hierarchical internal communications across 350 stores and speed up merchandising, logistics and sales coordination. As the first Brazilian retailer to adopt Workplace from Meta (Workplace), the company viewed the platform as a way to create a more open, collaborative culture and accelerate its digital transformation.

Workplace from Meta was rolled out quickly (80% of employees joined in the first month; 82.5% monthly active; 96% access via mobile) and centralized all internal channels—catalogs, VM guidelines, TV and magazines—while adding Results and Logistics chatbots, Workplace Chat training and targeted group campaigns. The platform enabled real‑time sales and shipment tracking, faster campaign rollouts and stronger leadership engagement (a Maratona Digital drive generated +50,000 app downloads vs a 6,000 goal), improving store performance, operational responsiveness and employee engagement.
