Implement “Early Access” programs for internal tools

Illumina, a global leader in DNA sequencing, needed a reliable way to pilot new internal tools and gather feedback before rolling them out company-wide. To address this, Illumina used Workplace from Meta to run “Early Access” programs—creating closed Workplace groups where select employees get new tools (for example, BlueJeans), access how-to guides, watch live demos, and participate in testing and feedback activities.

Workplace from Meta’s group features allowed Illumina to collect focused feedback, fix bugs, and develop robust communication plans using pinned resources, polls, contests, and tutorials. The approach helped drive engagement and smoother rollouts; Illumina deployed Workplace to 100% of employees in early 2017 and has since embedded the platform in its core communication processes, accelerating adoption and reducing rollout issues.
